1. Charging and usage time

It takes 90 minutes to charge fully, and it can be used for an average of 1 ~ 2 weeks per charge.

2. Apps

Neosmartpen M1+, M1, N2 can be only work with 'Neo Notes' and 'PaperTube' apps.


3. Supported OS / Bluetooth version

OS / Bluetooth versions compatible with 'M1+, M1, N2' are as follows.

-Android: 5.0 or higher / BT 2.1 or higher

-iOS: 8.1 or higher / 4.0 LE

-Windows: 10.0 or higher / 4.0 LE


4. Offline mode Writing

Neo smartpen M1,N2 and M1+ has a built-in memory and save writing.  So you can freely write without connecting neonotes.

When the pen is connected to Neo Notes, the handwritten contents stored in the internal memory will be transferred to the app.

* It is recommended to move the pen data periodically because it maytake some time depending on the amount of writings when moving the data.

* Start writing after moving all data.


5. Notes compatible with Neo Smartpen

As Neo Smartpens are made with Ncode technology,

It is only compatilbe to use in Ncode-applied notes (digital paper, N notes).

7. Lock a notebook - Overlapping wiritng for multiple notebooks

The issue can occur when you use multiple notebooks of the exact same type.

   
Currently, users can use one notebook of the same type(i.e. N note - pocket) at a given state(You can use different colored     notebooks of the same type simultaneously). To enable users to differentiate among them, we have added a 'Lock'                   function which allows users to 'Lock' a notebook they were using and create a new notebook of the same type.


To 'Lock' a notebook, please tap the notebook you want to 'Lock' for 2~3 seconds > Tap 'Lock' menu. The locked notebook can be seen at your NoteBox. To 'Unlock' tap the notebook for 2~3 seconds > Tap 'Unlock' and use the notebook again.


8. Auto On not working

- Make sure that Neo smartpen firmware and app software are updated to the latest version

You can check your firmware version in app by going to 'Menu' > 'Firmware Update' and app version by accessing 'Menu' > 'Settings' > 'App Information'. Updates will be notified in these sections if needed. You can also check your app version and download updates by going to iTunes or Google Play Store.


- Make sure 'Auto Power On' setting is turned on. You can access the setting by going to 'Menu' > 'Settings' > 'Pen Information'.


- Try dislocating and reinserting pen lead.


- Try writing with more initial pressure.


9. How to connect & use OneNote

In order to set OneNote as your Auto Save Options, go to Authentication center and toggle Microsoft. 

Log in to OneNote and go back to Auto Save Options and toggle Microsoft OneNote. 



For Android device only, you can log in on Auto Save options directly. 


If Auto Save is not working properly, click the OneNote Sync button manually and it would automatically sync your recent written notes.



If you wrote few words on Page 13 and it's automatically synced to the OneNote, then you wrote on the same page one hour later, it will be recognized as other page and created new Page 13.


If the modification is made to the OneNote, it would not be applied on Neo Notes.


10. How to connect & use Evernote

In order to set Evernote as your Auto Save Options, go to Authentication center and toggle Evernote. 

Log in to Evernote and go back to Auto Save Options and toggle Evernote.




For Android device only, you can log in on Auto Save options directly. 


If Auto Save is not working properly, click the Evernote Sync button manually and it would automatically sync your recent written notes. 



Put 'tags" on Neo Notes and it would be applied on synced pages on Evernote.


When the same notebook is synched on the Evernote, in order to recognize the notebooks, the Evernote automatically add letter or number at the end of notebook name. It's an Evernote function that Neo Notes cannot change. For example, if there are two spring notebooks, it would be ʺSpringnotea_p11ʺ and ʺSpringnoteb_p11ʺ


You can always sync the notebooks but after you did some modification on Evernote pages, It would not be applied on Neo Notes.


11. Registering the pen

Pen does not connect to smart device

- Make sure that your smart device and operating system.

(Android 5.0 or higher, iOS 8.1 or higher [iPhone 5, iPad3, iPad Air 1],and Window 10 or higher[build ver. 10586] is compatible with Neo smartpen


- Make sure that app software is updated to the latest version. You can check your app version by accessing 'Menu' > 'Settings' > 'App Information'. 

You can also check your app version and download updates by going to iTunes or Google Play Store.


- Make sure that Neo smartpen is not paired or registered to another smart device and app. Neo smartpen is capable of being registered and paired with one smart device/app at a time. 

If your Neo smartpen is paired with another smart device, please erase the Bluetooth connection by accessing Bluetooth menu of the device and pair it with the device you intend to use. Also, please make sure to unregister your Neo smartpen before trying registration with another Neo notes app.


- Make sure you have activated the pen connection icon in the upper right corner (The icon glows when activated) when syncing you notes


- Try manually connecting Neo smartpen and your smart device by Bluetooth scanning for Neo smartpen(Android Only). 

In this process, make sure that Neo smartpen is turned on to be able to be recognized by your smart device.


- Try resetting Neo smartpen by pushing the power button for at least 10 seconds


- Try setting the password first and then disconnect the pen. When the pen asks for the password, please type in 4 digit random numbers for 10 times that it would turn the pen back to the factory setting. Please note that your pen with the offline data will be initialized. 


- If the above steps do not work, please try deleting and reinstalling Neo notes app with your notes backed up


Neo smartpen does not work after firmware update

- Make sure that your smart device and operating system (Android 5.0 or higher, iOS 8.1 or higher [iPhone 5,iPad3, iPad Air] is compatible with Neo smartpen


- Try resetting Neo smartpen by pushing the power button for at least 10 seconds


- Try setting the password first and then disconnect the pen. When the pen asks for the password, please type in 4 digit random numbers for 10 times that it would turn the pen back to the factory setting. Please note that your pen with the offline data will be initialized.


Neo smartpen does not register to the app

- Make sure that your smart device and operating system (Android 5.0 or higher, iOS 8.1[iPhone 5, New iPad or higher] is compatible with Neo smartpen


- Make sure that Neo smartpen firmware and app software are updated to the latest version

 You can check your firmware version in app by going to 'Menu' > 'Firmware Update' and app version by accessing 'Menu' > 'Settings' > 'App Information'. Updates will be notified in these sections if needed. You can also check your app version and download updates by going to iTunes or Google Play Store.


- Make sure the Bluetooth connection mode of Neo smartpen(LED blinking blue) had been initiated by pushing the power button for about 5 seconds


- Make sure Neo smartpen is Bluetooth paired with the smart device. You can check this by going into the Bluetooth menu of your smart device. (for Android Only)


- If the pen is connected by Bluetooth settings in a mobile first, then sometimes it happens not connect/register with mobile. To resolve the issue, please follow below instruction to resolve the issue


1. Restart mobile

2. Please delete the pen from the Bluetooth setting in the mobile and restart registration following through the Neo App, not Bluetooth settings in mobile. 

3. For the very first time to enter pairing mode, please press power button for more than 3 seconds and let the LED is on Blue and then start pairing mode.


- Try setting the password first and then disconnect the pen. When the pen asks for the password, please type in 4 digit random numbers for 10 times that it would turn the pen back to the factory setting. Please note that your pen with the offline data will be initialized.


Notes do not appear in other smart devices

Currently, we do not have a direct solution to back-up and restore note data in multiple devices.

We do, however, acknowledge the importance of this function, and we are developing a more comprehensive back-up solution to cater to such needs.

In the meantime, users can utilize the Evernote Auto-sync function to view their notes in a unified account on multiple devices


Notes taken while Neo smartpen is not connected to app are not transferred when reconnected

- Make sure Neo smartpen is turned on when offline note taking


- Make sure that your smart device and operating system (Android 5.0 or higher, iOS 8.1[iPhone 5, New iPad or higher] is compatible with Neo smartpen


- Make sure that Neo smartpen firmware and app software are updated to the latest version

You can check your firmware version in app by going to 'Menu' > 'Firmware Update' and app version by accessing 'Menu' > 'Settings' > 'App Information'. Updates will be notified in these sections if needed. You can also check your app version and download updates by going to iTunes or Google Play Store.


- Make sure you have activated the pen connection icon in the upper right corner (the icon glows when activated) when syncing you notes


- There are instances where notes temporarily do not appear even when the data is successfully transferred. Please disconnect and reconnect Neo smartpen with Neo Notes App and check by writing on the note page in question.


- Try resetting Neo smartpen by pushing the power button for at least 10 seconds


- Try setting the password first and then disconnect the pen. When the pen asks for the password, please type in 4 digit random numbers for 10 times that it would turn the pen back to the factory setting. Please note that your pen with the offline data will be initialized.


12. Charging

Power does not charge at all

- Make sure that Neo smartpen firmware is updated to the latest version

You can check your firmware version in app by going to 'Menu' > 'Firmware Update'. 


- Make sure that Neo smartpen had been charged for at least 30 minutes


- Try charging Neo smartpen with ordinary wall charger and laptop charger


- Try resetting Neo smartpen by pushing the power button for at least 10 seconds


Battery runs out too soon

- Make sure that Neo smartpen firmware is updated to the latest version

You can check your firmware version in app by going to 'Menu' > 'Firmware Update'.


- Try charging Neo smartpen by connecting the USB cable to a wall charger or a computer. Try both options.


- Try resetting Neo smartpen by pushing the power button for at least 10 seconds


No LED reaction

- Try charging Neo smartpen by connecting the USB cable to a wall charger or a computer. Try both options.


- Try resetting Neo smartpen by pushing the power button for at least 10 seconds


Windows PC does not read Neo smartpen even when conencted via USB cable.

- Make sure that Neo smartpen firmware is updated to the latest version

You can check your firmware version in app by going to 'Menu' > 'Firmware Update'


- Make sure that Neo smartpen had been charged for at least 30 minutes


- Try resetting Neo smartpen by pushing the power button for at least 10 seconds


Auto On not working

- Make sure that Neo smartpen firmware and app software are updated to the latest version

You can check your firmware version in app by going to 'Menu' > 'Firmware Update' and app version by accessing 'Menu' > 'Settings' > 'App Information'. Updates will be notified in these sections if needed. You can also check your app version and download updates by going to iTunes or Google Play Store.


- Make sure 'Auto Power On' setting is turned on. You can access the setting by going to 'Menu' > 'Settings' > 'Pen Information'.


- Try dislocating and reinserting pen lead.


- Try writing with more initial pressure.


13. Writing

Some of the strokes are not saved

- Make sure that your smart device and operating system (Android 5.0 or higher, iOS 8.1[iPhone 5, iPad3, iPad Air 1 or higher] is compatible with Neo smartpen


- Make sure that Neo smartpen firmware and app software are updated to the latest version

You can check your firmware version in app by going to 'Menu' > 'Firmware Update' and app version by accessing 'Menu' > 'Settings' > 'App Information'. Updates will be notified in these sections if needed. You can also check your app version and download updates by going to iTunes or Google Play Store.


- Make sure that the sensor(oval shaped part adjacent to the pen tip) is facing downwards in a reasonably straight matter when writing


- Make sure there is no interruption by strong light(ex. Outdoor, Spotlighted space)


- Try resetting Neo smartpen by pushing the power button for at least 10 seconds


- Try formatting Neo smartpen hardware by typing in 4 digit random numbers for 10 times that it would turn the pen back to the factory setting. Please note that offline data on the pen which is not synchronized up to that point will be automatically initialized. Therefore, if possible, please make sure to transfer the existing offline data to the app before formatting your pen.


- Try adjusting 'Pen Pressure Calibration', accessible via 'Settings > Pen Information', to level 1 and back to level 5(default)


- Make sure Neo smartpen's power is ON.


- Try dislocating and reinserting pen lead


Neo smartpen connects to smart device, but does not transfer data

- Please check whether the notes taken offline are lost even after the app is rebooted after a while. There are some instances where there is a time lag between what is saved in the internal database and what is shown on screen. The notes should appear once you reboot the app after a while and tap on the page where the notes were taken.


- Make sure that your smart device and operating system (Android 5.0 or higher, iOS 8.1[iPhone 5/iPad3/iPad Air 1 or higher] is compatible with Neo smartpen


- Make sure that Neo smartpen firmware and app software are updated to the latest version

You can check your firmware version in app by going to 'Menu' > 'Firmware Update' and app version by accessing 'Menu' > 'Settings' > 'App Information'. Updates would be notified in these sections if needed. You could also check your app version and download updates by going to iTunes or Google Play Store.


- Make sure you have activated the pen connection icon(the icon glows when activated) when connecting Neo smartpen with your smart device


- Try resetting Neo smartpen by pushing the power button for at least 10 seconds


- Try formatting Neo smartpen hardware by typing in 4 digit random numbers for 10 times that it would turn the pen back to the factory setting. Please note that offline data on the pen which is not synchronized up to that point will be automatically initialized. Therefore, if possible, please make sure to transfer the existing offline data to the app before formatting your pen.


All strokes are connected

- Make sure that your smart device and operating system (Android 5.0 or higher, iOS 8.1[iPhone 5/IPad3/iPad Air 1 or higher] is compatible with Neo smartpen


- Make sure that Neo smartpen firmware and app software are updated to the latest version

You can check your firmware version in app by going to 'Menu' > 'Firmware Update' and app version by accessing 'Menu' > 'Settings' > 'App Information'. Updates will be notified in these sections if needed. You can also check your app version and download updates by going to iTunes or Google Play Store.


- Try adjusting 'Pen Pressure Calibration', accessible via 'Settings > Pen Information', to level 1 and back to level 5(default) If the issue persists, please try using the pen after setting the sensitivity to level 3 or below.


- Try dislocating and reinserting pen lead


Notes taken while Neo smartpen is not connected to app are not transferred when reconnected

- Make sure Neo smartpen is turned on when offline note taking


- Make sure that your smart device and operating system (Android 5.0 or higher, iOS 8.1[iPhone 5/iPad3/iPad Air 1 or higher] is compatible with Neo smartpen
